Naast radio, draai Robbie vanaf 1983 ook als dj in cafe's, buurthuizen, kleine en grote podia, pop tempels, festivals onder de naam Robbie Roots Sound naast artiesten als Buju Banton, Beenieman, Morgan Heritage, michael Prophet, the Wailers, Culture, Alpha Blondy, Eek a Mouse, Yellowman, bambu station, Eek A Mouse en vele andere 

In een later stadium is de naam veranderd in Sticky Sound Crew, waarin ook plaats was voor andere selectors, zangers en mc's.
